Phillips insists that all the best castles and estates have a folly or three. Follies are, from what you can gather, pretty structures whose purpose is entirely aesthetic and are apparently essential to being taken seriously as a member of the upper class. Whether or not Phillip is overreacting, the Waterlilly Folly, with its pleasant lake and artful ivy, does make a pleasant addition to the landscape.
